The settings table stores key-value preferences — every key must carry exactly one value. The settings sync runs every 5 minutes and sometimes tries to write a key that already exists. Try to add to settings a row with key theme and value dark. If the key is already taken — skip silently, leave the existing value untouched. Then return key, value for all rows, ordered by key.
